Mirai Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1: Teja Sajja and Manchu Manoj’s Action Fantasy Film Opens Strong

Karthik Ghattamaneni’s action fantasy film “Mirai,” starring Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, and Shriya Saran, released in theatres this Friday and opened to a strong response at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected a domestic net of ₹12 crore in India on its first day. Teja Sajja shared on X (formerly Twitter) that “Mirai” grossed a worldwide collection of ₹27.20 crore on its opening day.

In a heartfelt social media post featuring a poster with the day-one numbers, Teja expressed gratitude to the audience, writing, “Forever Humbled by your Love. Idhe Charitra, Idhe Bhavishyattu, Idhe #MIRAI. (This is the past, this is the future. This is Mirai.)” The strong opening has allowed “Mirai” to surpass the first-day collections of Teja’s previous release, the 2023 hit HanuMan, which had a worldwide opening of ₹23.50 crore, as well as Vishnu Manchu’s devotional drama Kannappa, which had earned ₹13 crore globally on its opening day in June this year.

“Mirai” tells the story of Vedha (played by Teja Sajja), an orphan who now runs a scrapyard in Hyderabad, producing counterfeit goods. His life takes a turn when a sanyasini named Vibha (Ritika Nayak) searches for him, aiming to fulfill the prophecy given by his mother, Ambica (Shriya Saran). Meanwhile, the antagonist Mahabir Lama, known as the Black Sword (Manchu Manoj), is on a mission to control the nine grandhas (ancient texts) left behind by Emperor Ashoka in his quest for world domination. The narrative follows Vedha’s struggle to prevent Mahabir from succeeding in his sinister plan.

Despite receiving mixed to positive reviews from critics and audiences, “Mirai” is showing strong initial momentum at the box office. Industry experts will be closely watching its performance in the coming days to assess its staying power. The film’s unique blend of action, fantasy, and mythology appears to have struck a chord with moviegoers, contributing to its promising start.
