Nirmal Kapoor, Mother of Anil, Boney, and Sanjay Kapoor, Passes Away at 90

Nirmal Kapoor, the matriarch of the Kapoor family and wife of renowned film producer Surinder Kapoor, passed away on May 2 at the age of 90. She died peacefully in Mumbai, surrounded by her loved ones.

Dr. Santosh Shetty, CEO and Executive Director of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, confirmed the news, stating, "Nirmal passed away peacefully at the hospital around 5.25 pm today."

Following the news of her demise, several videos surfaced on social media showing relatives and well-wishers gathering at the Kapoor residence. Boney Kapoor was seen in conversation with Shikhar Paharia, who is reportedly dating Boney's daughter, Janhvi Kapoor. Another video captured Shikhar consoling Janhvi, who appeared visibly distressed.

Family members, including Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor, and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, son of Anil Kapoor, were also spotted arriving at the family home. Among those who came to pay their respects were veteran lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar, actor Padmini Kolhapure, and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi.

Nirmal Kapoor had recently celebrated a milestone, turning 90 in September last year. On that occasion, Anil Kapoor had shared a heartfelt post on social media, showcasing nostalgic photos with his mother. "90 years of love, strength, and endless sacrifices. Your presence fills our lives with joy and positivity every day. Blessed to be your child. Happy birthday, Mummy!" he wrote.

She is survived by her four children—Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and Reena Kapoor Marwah. In addition to being the mother of a distinguished Bollywood family, she was also the proud grandmother of several celebrated personalities, including Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, and Mohit Marwah.

Nirmal Kapoor’s legacy lives on through the generations of the Kapoor family, who continue to play a vital role in the Indian film industry.
