Kannada Comedian Rakesh Poojary Passes Away at 34 After Sudden Cardiac Arrest
In a tragic turn of events, Kannada television personality and comedian Rakesh Poojary passed away at the age of 34 in the early hours of Monday, May 12. The incident occurred during a pre-wedding celebration near Udupi, Karnataka, where he reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest.
According to sources close to the family, Poojary collapsed while dancing at a mehendi ceremony and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to revive him, doctors declared him brought dead.
Well-known in the Kannada entertainment industry, Poojary rose to fame after winning Comedy Khiladigalu Season 3. Fondly referred to as Vishwaroop, he hailed from Karkala in Udupi district and was a prominent face in both Kannada and Tulu cinema. His film credits include Itu Entha Lokavayya, Pailwan, Ammer Police, and Petkammi. He was also reportedly working on the upcoming project Kantara: Chapter 1 at the time of his passing.
Just hours before the unfortunate incident, Poojary had shared a picture from the wedding on his Instagram Stories, capturing what would be his final public appearance.
Actor Shivraj KR Pete confirmed the news on social media, posting on Instagram: “How do we pray for peace for a soul that brought smiles to so many hearts?”
The news of his untimely demise has left fans, fellow actors, and members of the television and film fraternity in shock. Tributes and condolences have been pouring in, reflecting the impact Poojary had on audiences and colleagues alike.
His last rites are scheduled to be performed in his hometown of Karkala, where friends, family, and fans are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
